Getting a Library Card
Sign up for a library card online. Online registrations become available immediately on a temporary basis. Come into the library to get the actual card.
Library patrons must present a library card when checking out or renewing materials.
Borrowers are responsible for materials borrowed with their cards. Please report loss of library card immediately to prevent unauthorized use. Massachusetts residents who present a piece of acceptable ID may apply for a free library card.
The ID must have the applicant’s name and current address. Acceptable IDs include:
- MA Driver’s License/Learner’s Permit
- MA State ID
- Telephone Bill
- Gas Bill
- Electric Bill
- Bank Statement
- High School Picture ID plus piece of mail with address
Dartmouth Public Libraries cards entitle borrowers to take out materials from libraries in neighboring towns (the SAILS Library Network).
A lost library card may be replaced upon presentation of a valid ID and a replacement fee of $3.00.
Materials not currently available in Dartmouth may be requested from SAILS libraries and the Massachusetts Statewide Virtual Catalog.
