Thanks to the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries for providing so many museum passes for library patrons to use, including the newest additions – the Buttonwood Park Zoo, the Pawsox Library Pass and the New Bedford Art Museum. The Friends are also underwriting the library’s “Go Green” summer reading program. Other recent gifts include the purchase of two movie licenses, money to replace worn out favorite children’s books and two new library carts to keep and use in the Children’s Room.
Thanks to the Dartmouth Library Foundation for the January 2010 donation of 12,209.00 to purchase new library shelving. The Libraries really appreciate this generous check. Read about it in the New Bedford Standard Times:

BE A VOLUNTEER
Contact Volunteer Coordinator Joanne Sousa at Southworth – 508-999-0726 – if you would like to volunteer at the library. Volunteers perform jobs such as assisting with calling patrons when requested books arrive for them and adopting areas of the stacks to keep tidy. Request a volunteer application at the Southworth Library Circulation Desk.
JOIN THE Dartmouth Library Foundation, Inc.
The foundation is a group of library supporters active in improving the resources and services of the library. They encourage and receive gifts, grants and endowments. The foundation is a nonprofit, tax-deductible organization. They run the Bucks for a Better Library campaign. In January 2010, they presented the library with a check for 12,000.00 to purchase new shelving. They also had one project to raise money for unfunded library materials and successfully reached the goal of 57,000.00 Join the Foundation: Regular Member – $25/Yr. Business/Organization – $50/Yr. Benefactor – $100/Yr.

The Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries run book sales to benefit the library and sponsor cultural and social programs. Join the Friends: Individual Membership – $10.00/Yr. Family Membership – $15.00/Yr. Special Friend – $25+ Life Member $100 (one time) Application Forms for membership are available at Southworth Library.
