Who let the dogs back in?! The Southworth Library did, that’s who! On every Tuesday in March, Chloe and Sadie, the therapy reading dogs, will be back to hear stories read to them. Bring your child’s favorite book, from home, or choose one of the Library’s titles.
Then curl up with these beautiful, gentle, and well-trained dogs to read and enjoy a book, together. Therapy Dogs International is an organization that trains dogs to work with people in nursing homes, schools, and libraries. They have found that children who are reluctant readers are more enthusiastic, and more proficient when working with the trained dogs.
Sign up for a 20-minute appointment, with either Chloe, or Sadie, between 5:30 and 7:30 PM, from March 2nd to March 30th, by calling 508-999-0726, x385 or x386.
The Winter/Spring season for the Dartmouth Libraries’ Storytime is in full swing. Wee Read Together is a program for babies and toddlers, up to age three, with songs, fingerplays, stories, and fun. It is held every Monday and Wednesday, at 10:00 AM, with Mrs. Joanne Sousa. It will continue until Wednesday, May 26th. Preschool Storytime is for children aged 3 to 5 years old, and meets on Thursdays at 10:00 AM, and Friday mornings, also at 10:00 AM. There are fingerplays, songs, as well as the best books on a variety of themes. Mr. Brian Walsh will do storytime until Friday, May 14th, except for school vacation weeks. Please call 508-999-0726, x385 or x386 with any questions.
Tuesday, February 16th is the day before Ash Wednesday, this year, and that makes it Mardi Gras! Children aged 5 to 10 years old can come to Southworth Library for a school vacation craft program. Make a festive Mardi Gras mask and try some Rex Cake, a New Orleans specialty. It will be held at 3:00 PM in the Haskell Auditorium. There will be a limit of 25, so please sign up either in person at the Library, or call 508-999-0726, x385 or x386.
