Free Bridge Classes Begin Oct. 5th, 12:30 pm

Starting Monday, October 5, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

playing-cards.jpgThis course is designed for beginning bridge players who wish to further their study of the game and for intermediate bridge players who wish to refresh their skills.

Participants should already have a reasonable knowledge of:  the bidding ladder, the point count system for evaluating hands, basic playing strategy and the principal opening bids–five card majors, best of the minors, short club, preemptive 2 and 3 bids, 1/2 no-trump openers, strong 2 club opener.

The course will consist of 10 two-and-one-half-hours sessions with lesson review and playing time.  Be prepared to read lesson materials and complete exercises outside of class!

Classes will be held each Monday at the Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth Street, from October 5 through December 14.

Library Volunteers Appreciation Tea 9/24 2:30 pm

Southworth Library is holding a tea to thank our volunteers for their many contributions to the Dartmouth Public Libraries on Thursday Sept. 24th between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m. in the Haskell Auditorium.

For the occasion of the tea, we are also pleased to introduce Library Associate Joanne Sousa as the newly designated Volunteer Coordinator for the Libraries.

Fall Book Sale & Bake Sale Sept. 17-21st

Book Sale Clearance on Monday Sept. 21st from 9 am to 1 pm.

The annual Fall book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Dartmouth Public Libraries begins on Thursday Sept. 17th from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm with a members only preview. If you are not already a member, you can join at the door for 10.00.

The main sale then continues on Friday Sept. 18th and Saturday Sept. 19th from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Be sure to bring your appetite as well! A bake sale will also be held on Friday and Saturday.
