Iran Public Affairs Program – Tuesday June 2nd 7:00 pm

Chuck Bichsel will moderate a video presentation-discussion on the people and politics of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The event will be held in the Southworth Library Haskell auditorium from 7-9 pm. Participants will view Rick Steves’ recently-aired (PBS) Iran travelogue as a vehicle to encourage discussion of the Iranian people and culture.

Job-Hunting Resources at the Library – Workshop May 28th 6:30 pm

Join Information Services Librarian Sharani Robins for a look at resources available at the library to help job-hunters and career planners. Visit websites highlighted in the library’s online job-hunting guide, see the books recently purchased in this area and try out the WinWay Resume Software loaded on many of the public library computers at Southworth. The session will start on Thursday May 28th at 6:30 pm in the Haskell Auditorium and move upstairs to the computers on the main floor of the library. No pre-registration required.

Meet Your Local Authors: Wed. May 27th 6:30 pm.

Three writers, who are also Dartmouth residents, will speak briefly about their work and will be available to answer questions and mingle with the audience. Refreshments will be served.

Stephen Caravana, author of the The Light Beyond the Storm : Overcoming Life’s Tragedies Through Faith, chronicles his harrowing experiences as a young commercial fisherman in New Bedford, the tragedy of his brother’s death, and how he overcame adversity through faith.

Shawn Corlis is the author of the graphic novel, Defending Tavyr : Book 1 : The Risk Worth Taking, a book that is available in digital format. Shawn will be using a computer and projector to provide the audience with a look at his work.

Paula Sitarz is a Southworth staff member and a former Children’s Librarian from the Quincy Public Library. Paula is the author of several books about library story times and is also the author of The Curtain Rises, a history of theater for children. Paula will talk about her experiences with getting her work published.
