Tales for the Earth – Diane Edgecomb Tues 8/10

Diane Edgecomb Storyteller
Nationally known storyteller, Diane Edgecomb, will be doing “Tales for the Earth” at the Southworth Library, on Tuesday, August 10th. There will be two shows, at 10:00 AM and at 2:00 PM.

Free tickets are recommended and available in the Children’s Room of the Southworth Library but are not required.

Diane has been recognized by “Storytelling Magazine” as a leader in the use of storytelling to promote environmental awareness. The performance will include original environmental stories and related tales. The blend of folk and nature lore will stimulate the imagination and help children reconnect their emotional ties to the natural world. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries.

Come to the Southworth Library on Tuesday, August 3rd, to learn the many ways that the Wampanoag, the People of the First Light, celebrate life.

There will be hands-on activities, as well as songs and dances that celebrate the harvest and other community celebrations.

Our performer, Annawon Weeden, has been sharing his family’s culture with libraries, schools, and museums, for many years.  He is a member of The Wampanoag Singers & Dancers, and the Eastern Sons Drum Group.

As our summer theme is “Go Green at the Library”, we invite you to come and be part of the Spirit of the earth.

There will be two shows in the Southworth Library Auditorium, at 10 AM and at 2 PM.
