Read Me a Story, Please?

The Dartmouth Public Libraries’ Storytime returns on Monday, February 2nd, at 10 AM, with our “Wee Read Together” Storytime.  This is a 1/2 hour program of stories, songs, and fingerplays, all for children under the age of three.  An adult must accompany the child.  Wee Read will be held every Monday morning at 10 AM, and every Thursday morning, also at 10 o’clock.

In addition, our Preschool Storytime, for 3 to 5-year-olds, resumes on Tuesday, February 3rd, at 2 PM.  Following a kid-friendly theme, our librarians will engage the children with books, songs, and fun.  Preschool Storytime is held every Tuesday at 2 PM, and every Friday at 10 AM.

No advance registration is required.

Thank You to Sponsors of Wild Reads at the Library, “The Adult Version.”

wild-reads.jpgThe first Dartmouth summer reading program to include adult and young adult readers instead of only children was a great success. 155 adult readers signed up and turned in 500 punch cards representing 3,000 hours of reading. These punch cards were used as raffle tickets to award prizes at our annual summer reading party on Saturday, August 16th. Over $700.00 worth of certificates and coupons were donated by the local restaurants and businesses. The libraries want to recognize and thank all the sponsors who supported this program: Applebee’s, Buttonwood Park Zoological Society, Fay’s Too, Friendly Pizza, Howland Place Fitness Center, IHOP, Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant, Metro Pizza (State Rd.), New York Bagel, Ninety-Nine, Not Your Average Joe’s, Old Country Buffet, Papa Ginos (State Rd.), Peking Garden, Ruby Tuesday, Village Café, and Ying Dynasty. Pub Ninety-Nine also provided catering for the annual summer reading party on Saturday, August 16th.

Wild Reads at Southworth Library – “The ADULT Version”

Summer Reading Punch Card

This summer, for the first time, adults and young adults are invited to join a summer reading club at Southworth Library. The theme this summer is “Wild Reads at the Dartmouth Library.” To participate, just fill out a short registration form at the library, pick up a punch card, and start reading. For every 30 minutes that you read, mark off an X on your punch card. When you have read for 6 hours and marked off all 12 Xs, print your name and phone number on the card and drop it into our Wild Reads container. Cards will be drawn from the container to award restaurant gift certificates to lucky summer readers. You may enter a card for every 6 hours of reading, including reading newspapers, magazines, cereal boxes, etc. Keep track of your reading this summer and the library may treat you to dinner!
